How the Kinect can detect Ghosts
The Kinect uses InfraRed (IR) technolgy, the same technology that is used by paranormal investigators and ghost hunters. Infrared light is a wavelength of energy that is invisible to the human eye. A common source of this energy is heat. Current theories regarding the makeup of ghosts suggest that they are a form of energy that manifest by drawing energy from matter that produces heat such as humans or electronic devices. IR in turn than detects these elevated levels of heat and they can than be seen on devices that use IR technology, such as the Kinect.
What are Ghosts?
The traditional explanation of ghosts is that they are the spirits of the departed, who died under traumatic circumstances and as a result are trapped between the world of the living and the world of the dead. They often end up haunting either the places that they tragically died at or places that gave them comfort while alive.
Types of Ghosts
- Residual Energy
Some ghosts manifest themselves as residual energy, meaning that they are a type of “spiritual recording”. For example, a soldier may be seen patrolling the same perimeter where he died many years prior. This type of residual energy will not even be aware of any living presence and will continue his lone patrol on his eternal tour of duty. Another example might be the sound of a trumpet at a nightclub where a famous trumpet player used to play all the time. Theses sights and sounds offer a rare glimpse into the past lives of people long since past.
